As this Optimist year draws to a close, I would like to thank all of you who have worked so hard this year to Reach Out and Lift Up the kids in your communities. I have enjoyed the opportunity to get to most of the clubs and hear about the amazing programs and activities you have been doing for the kids. I have heard about football programs, curling, scholarships, recognition programs, in addition to the traditional essay and oratorical programs. The Twin Falls Optimist Youth House that will serve kids who have aged out of foster care is close to opening. What a wonderful way to impact kids for years to come and to make people aware of Optimists. Thank you.
I want to thank all of you who helped make the various conferences and conventions meaningful and worthwhile. The Lebanon Club went way above and beyond what was expected to make the District Convention one that will not be forgotten in a long time. Thank you.
In my travels, I have heard about how you are Reaching Out and Lifting Up your fellow club members. Several people have mentioned what it means to them to be part of a club and organization that cares about each other. Thank you.
People have stepped forward to try to Reach Out and Lift Up other clubs in the district. We need to keep doing this to maintain a strong district. Thank you.
I want to ask each of you to do what you can to support incoming Governor Ben DeRemer as he works on implementing the new Strategic Plan for the District. I believe that if we all work together on this, we can have a very strong District with much better communication. Thank you, Ben for stepping forward.
I would like to thank all of you who stepped forward to take on the various leadership positions within the Pacific Northwest District. It is amazing how many people need to volunteer to make everything work. Thank you.
There are two people who I want to say a special thank you to. They are Mary White, our District Secretary/Treasurer, who has worked hard to make sure everything was set up and in order for our conferences and finances. Without her, this would have been a very difficult year. Thank you, Mary. The second person I want to thank is my wife, Judy. Without her support and willingness to help in any way she could, I would not have been able to get through everything. Thank you, Judy.
It has been a real honor and pleasure to serve as the 2017-18 Governor of the Pacific Northwest District. I want to thank you for allowing me this opportunity.
